COTTON DISTRICT ARTS FESTIVAL


How can I participate?
There are many ways you can participate in helping make the Cotton District Arts Festival a great success!

Volunteer
Many hands are needed the day of the festival to do various jobs here and there. We work with your schedule and appreciate any time that you can give.

Student Art Exhibitions
We will be approaching area schools to gather student artworks for several exhibitions during the week of the festival. Work will be displayed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Email info@starkvillearts.org

 

Poetry Slam
Poets of all ages are invited to read a short, original poem.  Registration will be from Noon-1:00 at the Local Stage in The Grill Parking Lot on Maxwell Street with the Slam beginning at 1:00.  Be prepared to provide three copies of the poem for the judges. First, Second and Third prizes of 100, 50 and 25 dollars will be awarded based on quality and presentation of the poetry.

Artisan's Village
Artists are welcome to come and sell their work.

Old Cotton Mill 5K Run
The annual 5K run kicks off the festival day bright and early. Prizes are awarded for several divisions of runners.

Taste of Starkville
Area restaurants can compete in this annual showcase of the many flavors of Starkville.

Juried Art Show
Each year the festival honors a distinguished visiting artist who also judges an exhibition of works by area artists.

Pet Parade
Our annual Pet Parade is one of the main events of the festival. Bring your pooch or any pet an join in the fun! Prizes in several categories are awarded.
